Prince & Skyline Museum in Nagano, Japan

Responsive Image

The Skline Museum is tucked away in the beaitufl ourskirts of Nagono, Japan.

Responsive Image

Even with GPS it can be a little hard to find as it doesn't have a parking lot directly in front of it... and most of the museum is underground. You find this staircase though and you've made it.

Responsive Image

A little past the top of the stair case and you'll see this sign with a sweet Hakuska on it. If you can not read Kana, it says, "Sukairain Myujiamu" which means you are headed in the right direction.

Responsive Image

Sorry I did not get an image of the entrance, but you will know it when you see it. The O.G. is on diplay at the entrance along with the gift shop. I ended up with a Hakuska Mug, A full sklyine magnet set, a huge hand sketched r33 that I got framed later on and a few racing stickers. Pictures of all that stuff at the bottom of the page.

The first and only vehcile at the floor level is the original Prince/Skyline before they merged with Nissan in 1966, well before the 1981 merger with Datsun.

Responsive Image

When you buy a ticket and head downstairs you are going to be in Skyline Heaven! First thing I got a shot of was the transmission they used in the early 1970s Datsun 240Z's.

Responsive Image

Eninge in the center is the L-Series from the 2000GT Skyline, the engine on the left is the RB30, predecessor to the RB26. I have no idea what the engine on the right is, hit my up on Twitter/X or IG if you konw so I can update this!

Front and center are the famous Calsonic R32 and the Advon R32 racing machines. Next half a dozen images will be focused on these legendary racing machines.

Responsive Image

Oh, i need to mention that they rotate thier cars out so you won't always see the same ones.

My first encounter with this amazing uncanny piece automitve history was... I'll admit... Gran Turismo II on my O.G. PlayStation. To finally see her in real life was worth the entire trip to the museum alone.

540hp @ 7,600rpm & 361lbs of torque @ 6,000rpm

This was a medium size pick up truck known as the Prince Miller, which was made right before the Nissan merger. Powered by a four cylinder with 45 horse power.

Responsive Image

Upon further research, a Nissan Prince Light Miller was later developed that had a Hakuska looking front end on it. Wish I could get my hand on one of those!

Nice R32.

I'm not sure what these next few Prince models are, but if you know please hit me up Twiiter/X or IG.

This is the first generation Skyline! Made in 1957 and was a four door sedan. Original sticker price of 870,000 yen. It started wth 60hp, but later saw a 70hp and a91 hp version.

Responsive Image

This is the scond generation skyline, looking much more sleek than the orignal. It came with 88 HP which was an a +30% increase over the orignal.

Responsive Image

Released in 1967 right after the Prince Nissan merger and was named the Nissan Prince.

Responsive Image

This is the R31 GTS-R, powered by a RB20DET-R with a stock output of 207hp. One of only 820 ever made.

Responsive Image

Lot's of R33 love in this museum, but sadly no 300R.

Responsive Image

They did have one very rare R33 in thier collection though...

Responsive Image

The R33GT-R ARTA Skyline! This was a project car between Aguri Suzui and a company called Autobacs.

Responsive Image

If you don't know what an Autobacs is, think of them as a glamourous overprice autozone with more a focus on car styling products than car parts.

Responsive Image

Builit in 1999, and had a 702bhp with a six speed transmission. 0-60 time is stated as a staggering 2.3 seconds. Top seed is recorded as 232 mph (373 km/h).

Responsive Image

As a fellow R33 GTR owner, I tihnk the most impressive thing was they got this down to only 2,600 lbs. Right out of the factory, the R33 GTR weighed 3,395 lbs!

Responsive Image

Nismo R32 Skyline was a litte over shadowed next to its Calsonic and Advon racing counter parts. Still very cool though and my faviorte color that a Skyline was ever available in.

No collection would be complete without at R34 GTR! This one is in the traditional Bayside Blue that everyone wants to get thier hands on.

Responsive Image

Only thing cooler than a mint condition R34 GTR is the V-Spec version!

Responsive Image

Responsive Image

Responsive Image

R34 Rims, V-Spec turbos, and drive shafts completed the R34 section nicely.

Responsive Image

Of course they had a mint conditon RB26 engine on display.

Responsive Image

This is the sixth generation R30 and this specific model was the Paul Newman version. This was a speced out GT-ES turbo released during a promotional period that Mr. Newman did with Nissan.

Responsive Image

Responsive Image

Next to it was a raced out Advan version of the R-30, but I could not find much information on it anywhere.

Responsive Image

Responsive Image

Here we have the Skyline 2000GTR Hakosuka Race Car which was an absolute beast for it's time. It won 50 circuits in less than 3 years.

Responsive Image

The driver's name was Hiroshi Kubota who achieved three consecutive podium finishes.

Responsive Image

Hakosuka GTR! This is my eleanor, but at about $150K last time I checked, I don't think I'll be drivng home in one of these anytime soon.

Responsive Image

The museum had a wagon skyline of the same year and if I read the Japanese correctly, Nissan would make service calls in this.
