This is part one of a four day Italy trip. We did one day in Pompeii and three days in Rome. Hit the airport and found these nice Bombay Gin & Tonics. Drank one and bought another for the plane ride.
Got on the plane and in true Italian style all the seats were made by Recaro.
The plan was to get into Naples by 1200 and grab our rental car to make it to our first destination by 1300. Our plane delayed an hour both departing and arriving. Be warned, if you don’t make it to the Museums by 1445 they won’t let you in! This was the only picture I could grab of the Volcanic Ruins before the kicked us out!
Still managed to get a pretty good shot of Mt. Vesuvius which erupted in the year AD 79 with the force of 100,000 times a nuclear bomb instantly turning everything into ash statues within several cities of the Roman Empire.
Anyway, after getting over missing the only thing we flew to Naples to see, our night was much better. Here is a shot of the Garden of Fugitives from our AirBnB.
Stopped into this very cozy restaurant which was completely warmed by a single brick oven pizza in the back.
Not sure whats going on with this design... some kind of Our first meal completely changed our spirits around. We had been eating German food for the past 5 months and it is very bland. The Italian food blew us away and we only had very simple dishes. Pizza for the kids, Gnocchi for the wife and Lasagna for me.
We were able to visit and tour the inside of the famous Santuario Cathedral. The inside was absolutely beautiful, but there was a service going on I and consider it rude to film religious ceremonies.
I did find two secluded corners where I was able to capture a few art pieces.
We thought wine was cheap in Germany at 6 to 8 Euros a bottle. In Italy it was only 2 to 3 Euros! We got a bottle and a few local beers then headed back to the Airbnb to rest up for our trip into Rome the Next day.
