K20A/DC5 Valve Cover & Gasket Guide

Very easy write up. If you can do an oil change and/or swap your spark plugs, then this should be well within your skillset.

First remove the spark plug cover retaining nuts circled in red.

Then remove the ignition coil retaining bolts.

Should look like this when you are done.

Unplug the wire harness from each of the ignition coils.

Pull the ignition coils out and remove them out of the way for now.

Lastly, remove all the valve cover bolts/studs.

You many need to rock it back and forth just a little, but it should come free with minimal effort.

Grab your new gasket and some Honda Bond High Temp, any high temp gasket sealer will work. The blue stuff at the auto parts store would be my suggestion if you are in a hurry.

Apply a small amount of gasket sealer to these 12 locations.

Place the Valve cover back into position and reinstall the long black wiring harness.

Stick your ignition coils back into their housing and bolt them down along with all the valve cover bolts.

Finally, reinstall your spark plug cover.

That’s it! Super simple.
